One of the best value places I've stayed in on business. Would recommend unreservedly. Flowers in the room was a nice touch and not expected at this price.

    • Couple

I liked everything, i thought it was agreat get away. Coming from London, this was a big change and a fantastic weekend away!

The office being closed on the sunday was a little annoying.

    • Older travelers

A lovely country hotel with pleasant staff and lovely restaurant, good parking. Room was very clean and comfortable.

    • Older travelers

We've stayed in The Black Horse Inn a couple of times before and the service, staff, accomodation and food are still excellent.

    • Older travelers

Really liked the accommodation which was away from the Inn and gave some seclusion. The location was just right, being away from everywhere but still very accessible to the major roads for getting out and about. The staff in the pub were very good and were able to accommodate changes to the menu. We had a very good 4 days there and plan to return sometime again next time we are going to be in that part of the country.

    • Older travelers

Convenience, style, location and ambiance. Ideal as for a one night stop en-route for Dover ferry terminal or longer stay to explore local area.

    • Couple

Black Horse Inn is a dog friendly pub and rooms, with lovely, well designed rooms, extensive gardens and an historic pub that serves high quality food. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay, even contacting us ahead of time to check if we'd be joining for dinner and if we'd like to book in the area of the pub where dogs are allowed to dine with their owners. The pub itself is stunningly quaint, in a gorgeous leafy Ken location that really makes you feel you've left the world behind.

    • Single

I enjoyed the peace and tranquility in a rather luxurious setting. It was very restful and there was careful attention to the comfort of the guests - such as lovely soaps, moisturisers and shampoos, the fan to keep the rooms cool, heated towel rail for drying towels and the tea/coffee tray had a cafetiere as well as instant coffee and teas and biscuits. It was a very pleasant few days and if I an staying in the area again I shall most certianly be looking up the hotel again! Staff were very friendly and well informed.

    • Older travelers

The situation is quiet and peaceful. The rooms are discreetly placed around the grounds, which is idyllic in summer. The Inn is charming, if a little dark. The food, whilst not gourmet, is well presented and of good quality at a reasonable price. Breakfasts are excellent.

I had booked four nights in a twin room but the staff did not seem to know this. I always book a twin as my husband has a back and leg problem and we cannot sleep in these small double beds. We were able to move after the first night but I had to make a fuss and I don't like doing this. The bathroom was in the form of a wet room, which we don't like.

    • Older travelers

We were made very welcome when we checked in. The room was spacious and comfortable and with the added bonus of parking right outside. We had been travelling for a few days before but a reservation for dinner had been made which was very welcome. Being a Tuesday evening there was a set menu for dinner which looked excellent but we choose from the main menu and our meals were very good. All in all an excellent experience.

    • Couple

      lovely location and pub nearby!

The bed was extremely small to be a double and the curtain was inadequate for sleeping in the room (broad daylight)

    • Single

The staff were excellent and the room a delightful mix of traditional and modern. I really enjoyed my stay there

    • Family with children

Excellent service, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and very clean.Very good food (in restaurant/pub) and breakfast. Highly recommendable for people who like the countryside, good food (and beers) and can do without the "city nightlife".

    • Older travelers

We loved the country walks, the food, the English Ale and the real English atmosphere

    • Group of friends

You are housed in delightful cottages situated in the garden behind the inn. The inn itself is an impressive medieval building, situated on the Pilgrim's Way. The food is excellent and there is a great choice of dishes, snacks, lunchbites and gourmet meals and breakfast is wonderful as well. You can get there by public transport, though it is a steep hike up the hill from Bearsted trainstation, but pick up can be arranged and by car it is easy to get to.
